Award of certificate

The chemists' cooperative, NOWEDA eG Apothekergenossenschaft, has now been recertified by TÜV NORD CERT for its quality management system based on ISO 9001. For the first time, auditors from TÜV NORD have also certified the pharmaceutical wholesaler with regard to its environmental management system according to  ISO 14001 and have praised NOWEDA's commitment and achievement in both areas. TÜV NORD Management Board Member Volker Klosowski presented the certificate in Essen to Wilfried Hollmann, the Executive Board Chairman of NOWEDA eG.

"NOWEDA offers strong and reliable support to its member chemist shops, preparing their road to success with first-class, reliable and future-orientated solutions". The practical implementation of this promise from NOWEDA - which is owned by the chemists themselves - was confirmed by the TÜV NORD CERT auditors in the successful audit according to ISO 9001.

ISO 9001 is considered to be the fundamental standard when it comes to demonstrating the competence and capability of an organisation. In addition to sustainable quality assurance and identification of potentials for improvement and savings, certification results in enhanced satisfaction for both employees and customers. In this case, the customers of the cooperative are also its owners, and this requires special attention. 
The main purpose of NOWEDA is to supply the population with the medicines they need -  reliably, rapidly and with consistency of supply. This means that the cooperative carries considerable responsibility as regards society as a whole.

Pharmaceuticals must be distributed so that the correct articles are supplied in their entirety and in good time, whilst still taking environmentally-relevant aspects into consideration. And NOWEDA places considerable emphasis on careful use of natural resources and on the needs of the environment. Measures taken here extend far beyond the basic legal requirements, and TÜV NORD certification according to ISO 14001 confirms the effectiveness of the corporate environmental management system, which aims at a process of continual improvement in the area of environmental protection. 

As TÜV NORD Management Board Member Volker Klosowski explained when the certificate was officially handed over: "This certification has always been really special for me and my staff. Not only because of the extraordinarily good results of the audit. What is really special about this certification is NOWEDA itself as an organization - with the services it offers, its very high quality standard and its entire philosophy.“
Altogether, Klosowski emphasised the commitment and enthusiasm of NOWEDA in achieving optimum quality levels and a high degree of environmental awareness.
