GUI TUV NORD takes over GUI

Hanover/Hamburg/Essen: TÜV NORD Group intends to considerably expand its activities in the area of environmental and hazardous substance analysis with its acquisition of GUI - Gesellschaft für Umwelt- und Innenraumanalytik, a company based in Mönchengladbach. GUI employs 13 staff and specialises in the investigation of hazardous substances that cause problems to asthma and allergy sufferers. GUI has already been active in the field of environmental analysis for many years. As an interdisciplinary accredited laboratory and competence centre, GUI has won an excellent reputation in the areas of biology, immunology, chemistry and allergology in Germany and beyond. Clients include manufacturers of products that influence inside air quality, wholesale and retail chains, automobile manufacturers, public authorities and consumer organisations.
As a reference laboratory for the German allergy and asthma association, Deutscher Allergie- und Asthmabundes DAAB e.V., GUI regularly performs product tests for those suffering from allergies. Main points of focus include tests of washing programmes intended to remove allergens, cleaning of air conditioning systems for office buildings and vehicles and also measures for people who are allergic to house dust. The potentially harmful effects of fragrances are also investigated.
As Rudolf Wieland, Chief Executive of TÜV NORD Systems confirms: "This strategic partnership is an important signpost for the future. On the one hand we want to project and strengthen our advantageous position in the area of environmental analysis. On the other, we are following our strategy of developing our activities in regions such as the Rhineland." 
GUI has a workforce of 13 and last year achieved sales of 1.2 million Euro. Dr. Andreas Winkens VDI will continue to head the company, whilst Felix Bietenbeck has been appointed alongside him as Joint Managing Director.
